Reverse Advent Calendar Donations for Arnold Food Bank
December and Christmas are fast approaching! Many of the children in school will have an advent calendar to open in the run up to Christmas and will be excited to count down the days until the big day.
Like last year, Mapperley Plains would like to take part in a Reverse Advent Calendar as a way of giving back to the community and supporting the wonderful work of local food banks. This has been a difficult year for so many and food banks provide an invaluable support for those that need them. The issue of children and families requiring food from food banks has been topical and one that we would like to assist with.
Last year we collected an amazing amount of donations and Arnold Food bank were extremely grateful. We are hoping to do the same again this year – with your support. So, if you are able to, please look at the calendar and donate the individual items each day or, if it’s easier, bring in a selection on a weekly basis / at the end of the term. They will then be collected from the local food bank.
We understand that many families are under financial pressures, particularly at this time of year, so there is no pressure to donate if you feel that you are not able to do so. If you are interested, please feel free to donate as much or as little as you wish.
The calendar below lists the items that we are trying to collect each day. The list of items has been recommended by the local food bank. If you do wish to take part, please send in any items that you are able to and place them in the boxes outside school.
Due to the current restrictions in place, this is a safer way of collecting the donations rather than bringing them in to classrooms.
Thank you for your support.
