Health and Safety
Mapperley Plains Primary and Nursery School is committed to providing a safe, healthy and secure environment for children, staff, parents, carers and visitors.
We follow Nottinghamshire County Council’s Health and Safety Policy, which sets out a clear framework for effective health and safety management across all County Council maintained settings. The policy outlines the Council’s commitment to preventing accidents, work-related ill health and ensuring sensible risk management through clear roles, responsibilities and robust systems.
At school level, this commitment is reflected through:
Regular risk assessment and review
Clear procedures for safeguarding, supervision and site safety
Appropriate training, information and supervision for staff
Ongoing monitoring to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practice
Health and safety is viewed as a shared responsibility. Staff are expected to work with due regard for their own safety and that of others, and we expect cooperation from contractors, volunteers and visitors while on site.
