Mapperley Plains Primary and Nursery School is committed to providing a safe, healthy and secure environment for children, staff, parents, carers and visitors.

We follow Nottinghamshire County Council’s Health and Safety Policy, which sets out a clear framework for effective health and safety management across all County Council maintained settings. The policy outlines the Council’s commitment to preventing accidents, work-related ill health and ensuring sensible risk management through clear roles, responsibilities and robust systems.

At school level, this commitment is reflected through:

• Regular risk assessment and review

• Clear procedures for safeguarding, supervision and site safety

• Appropriate training, information and supervision for staff

• Ongoing monitoring to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practice

Health and safety is viewed as a shared responsibility. Staff are expected to work with due regard for their own safety and that of others, and we expect cooperation from contractors, volunteers and visitors while on site.
