Why I became a governor:
I am a parent of two boys who both attend and love the school and I am also a former pupil myself. I am extremely passionate about ensuring that Mapperley Plains is the very best it can be. Name: Lydia Jennings
Governor Role: Staff Governor
Professional background:
I have been teaching for many years and have held a number of different leadership roles including Lead Practitioner and Phase Leader. I have worked at Mapperley Plains for the last 10 years and have been the Staff Governor for the past 4 years. I am proud to have the opportunity to help shape and continue to strengthen our school.
Why I became a governor:
I became a Staff Governor at Mapperley Plains because I wanted to play an active role in shaping the direction of the school and supporting the best outcomes for children. I saw the opportunity to represent the views and experiences of staff and to help ensure that decisions made at a strategic level reflect what happens in classrooms every day. I was motivated by a desire to contribute positively to the school community, develop my own understanding of leadership and governance and support continuous improvement. By taking on the role, I hoped to make a meaningful difference and help strengthen the partnership between staff, leaders and governors.

Why I became a governor:
I am passionate about young people receiving a good quality education and developing the self-confidence and skills to reach their full potential. I also love outdoor play and learning through doing. I have lived in Mapperley for 11 years and my son now attends school here, which motivated me to become more involved in the school community.
