ClassDojo
ClassDojo is our main platform for sharing updates with families. Staff use it to celebrate children’s achievements, share class news and keep parents informed about events, reminders and learning in school.
How ClassDojo is Used
In EYFS and Key Stage 1, the messaging feature is used to support communication with parents and carers, including updates about learning and day-to-day information.
In Key Stage 2, parents and carers should contact staff through the school office (admin@mapperleyplains.notts.sch.uk) or speak with teachers at the start or end of the day. This helps ensure communication is consistent and manageable.
Getting Started
Families can access ClassDojo using a computer or any iOS or Android device. We recommend downloading the app for the easiest access.
Only one parent account is needed, even if you have more than one child in school.
Once your child starts, you will receive a unique code to connect to their class. If you require this information in a different language, please contact the school office and we will support you.
Once your account is set up, you can add additional children by selecting “Add a child” and entering their code.
What you will see on ClassDojo
ClassDojo provides a simple way to stay connected with school life. Through the platform, you will see:
- class and whole-school announcements, event details and reminders
- messages from teachers to keep you informed
- updates about your child’s learning and achievements
- translation of messages into multiple languages, if required
What are Dojo points?
Teachers use ClassDojo to recognise and celebrate positive behaviour and attitudes to learning. Children are awarded Dojo points for things such as:
- staying on task
- meeting expectations
- showing kindness
- producing high-quality work
You will receive a notification when your child is awarded a Dojo point, and staff may include a short explanation.
Guidance for Parents and Carers
To help ClassDojo work effectively for everyone, we ask that:
- messages focus on your child’s learning or wellbeing
- teachers are given time to respond (usually within 48 hours during school days)
- urgent matters are directed to the school office
- communication remains respectful and appropriate
- messages do not include information about other children
ClassDojo supports clear, positive communication between home and school. Thank you for working with us to keep communication effective and supportive for all.
