Headteacher’s Welcome
When families visit Mapperley Plains, I want them to notice three things quickly: children who are happy and engaged, adults who know them well and a school that is ambitious for both learning and character.
Our Mapperley Mission is simple: Be kind, be curious, be my best. It sha
pes the way we learn, behave and treat one another and reflects the qualities we want every child to develop during their time with us.
From Nursery to Year 6, children experience a broad and carefully sequenced curriculum designed to build knowledge, vocabulary and confidence. Reading is a central priority and we want children not only to achieve well, but also to discover their interests through sport, music, performance, play, educational visits and the wider opportunities school life provides.
Mapperley Plains is an inclusive school. We want every child to feel that they belong, to receive the support they need and to be challenged to achieve their best. Positive relationships between children, staff and families are an important part of making that happen.
As Headteacher, I want our school to feel welcoming and accessible. You will often find me at the school gate, in classrooms and around the playground and I want parents and carers to feel confident approaching us with questions, ideas or concerns.
The best way to understand Mapperley Plains is to visit, meet our children and staff and see the school in action. We would be very pleased to welcome you.
