The PE and Sport Premium is additional government funding provided to primary schools to improve the quality of physical education, sport and physical activity.

At Mapperley Plains Primary and Nursery School, we use this funding to make additional and sustainable improvements that benefit all children. Our aim is to help children develop healthy, active lifestyles and provide them with positive experiences of physical education and sport.

Our work focuses on:

• developing staff confidence, knowledge and skills in teaching PE

• increasing children’s engagement in regular physical activity

• raising the profile of PE and sport across the school

• providing a broad and inclusive range of sports and physical activities

• increasing opportunities for children to participate in competitive sport

We carefully plan and evaluate how the funding is used. Our annual report explains:

• the amount of funding received

• how the funding has been spent

• the impact on children’s participation and attainment

• how improvements will be sustained

• Year 6 swimming and water safety outcomes
