Outdoor Play and Learning
At Mapperley Plains, we are developing our approach to play through OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning).
We want playtimes and lunchtimes to give children rich opportunities to be active, creative, curious and independent. This includes making better use of our outdoor spaces, introducing a wider range of play opportunities and helping children learn how to use equipment safely and responsibly.
Our OPAL development is ongoing. Staff and children are working together to review what is working well and identify the next improvements so that social times are enjoyable, purposeful and inclusive for all children.
This work links closely to the Mapperley Mission: Be kind, be curious, be my best.
